Geese are faithful and loyal; they help each other in teamwork and they mate for life. Geese were one of Harvey’s favorite animals. He had many humorous stories about his experiences with them. A few months after Harvey passed away, a wild Canada goose flew into the yard while I was sitting on the porch with my family. It walked up to me, looked me in the eye and then pecked at my pant leg.
I thought of Harvey so much after that happened. It was as though the goose was sent to bring a message from Harvey, to let me know that all was well. I felt inspired to include a goose among the life-size sculptures on the Towne Street Bridge in Glendive, Montana in memory of Harvey.
