By Harvey Rattey
Harvey told some colorful tales about chasing wild horses in the Missouri Breaks in Montana. When Harvey was a young man in the 1950s, he and his friend Roger Long Knife set out to catch one particularly beautiful horse. Roger was very talented with his rope, so Harvey chased the herd of wild horses down a steep wash while Roger waited, rope ready. When the horses came plunging by, Roger threw his rope around the horse’s neck then flipped the rope to catch a front foot. Roger tied the horse down, and by the next day, according to Harvey, Roger was riding his beautiful new steed.
