Once a ten-year-old boy named Bridger Pickthorn told me, “It’s hard to be mad around a dog.” Our dog Dolly was a trooper. The usual dog tricks were child’s play for Dolly; she could roll over, shake hands, sit and more. She was game for anything we wanted her to do, from riding in a wheelbarrow to climbing a ladder, from herding cats to riding a snowmobile. She would even sit on the back of a horse.
