Pamela’s story behind this adorable bronze sculpture. Wouldn’t this make a great Christmas gift for the child in all of us?
When I married Harvey in 1977 he had several critters living together in his old Lab dog Whiskey’s doghouse: a rodeo roping goat, a cat and her kittens and a fighting cock who could fly like an eagle. It made me laugh each time I saw them in the morning coming out of the dog house. They reminded me of the Grimm’s German fairy tale of the Bremen Town Quartet. In it a donkey, dog, cat and rooster were unhappy with their farmer master so decided to run away to Bremen Town to become musicians. On their way they came to a cabin full of robbers counting their loot. The four friends decided to stand on each other’s backs outside the cabin window and sing. They were so awful that the robbers, terrified of the noise coming from the strange shape outside the window, fled and never returned. The friends stayed the rest of their days in the cabin and never did make it to Bremen town.
